The Working Meeting for the Preparation and the Reform of the 104th Canton Fair was held in Dalian on Agust 5-6. Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng was present and delivered a speech at the meeting.

Gao expressed that with the aim of improving the core competitiveness of Canton Fair, as well as solving the relevant problems and existing conflicts, MOFCOM shall greatly reform the fair starting from the 104th Canton Fair to be held as an autumn fair on October 15. This was another great reform a year later since the import exhibition area was set up for the first time at the 101st Canton Fair in 2007. It will certainly play a profound role in supporting China’s enterprises to develop international market, especially for the small- and medium-sized enterprises, in fostering international-oriented talents, as well as in promoting the exchanges and cooperation in the economic and trade circles between China and foreign countries.

Gao pointed out, in light of the principle of “acting actively and steadily, promoting step by step, serving enterprises and improving the service level”, MOFCOM puts forward, after one year’s thorough preparations, the reforming measures as follows.

1. Further change the government function, clarify the responsibility and orientation, serve local departments and enterprises.

2. Further complete and improve the monitoring system.

3. Expand the scale of the Fair, ease the contradiction of supply and demand.

4. Adapt to the international trend, improve the special level for holding the Fair.

5. Comprehensively improve the qualification and commodity quality of the exhibitors.

6. Adjust the structure of the exhibition areas and increase the proportion of named brands.
