China’s Import and Export Volume of E-Information Products Hit US$68 Billion in Jan. 2008

The statistics recently released by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) shows that China’s accumulative total import and export value in e-information products in January 2008 hit US$68.02 billion, up by 29.3% year on year, with a growth rate 12.9 percentage points lower than that of the same period of 2007, and 7.6 percentage points lower than that of country’s average. Among which the total export value of the e-information products surged by 22.9% year on year to US$38.29 billion, with a growth rate 12.8 percentage points lower than that in 2007, and 3.7 percentage points lower than the country’s average, accounting for 34.9% of the country’s total. The total import value of e-information products surged by 15.2% year on year to US$29.73 billion, with a growth rate 13 percentage points lower than that in 2007, and 12.4 percentage points lower than China’s average, accounting for 33% of the country’s total. According to the analysis of the nature of export enterprises, the export value of the solely foreign-funded enterprises hit US$24.94 billion, up by 18.9% year on year, accounting for 65.1% of the country’s total; and the export value of China-foreign joint ventures hit US$6.23 billion, up by 20.1% year on year, accounting for 16.3% of the country’s total. Judging from the trading type of export, processing trade with materials and processing and assembling trade with materials remain the main body of export, which the export value hit US$26.12 billion and US$5.24 billion respectively, and accounts for 81.9% of total export.
