According to the statistics from Myanmar Investment Commission, as of May 31, 2008, the total 27 investment projects of China to Myanmar were approved with a protocol capital of USD475m, continuously ranking 6th among the investment rankings of foreign countries to Myanmar, accounting for 3.23% of total foreign investment.
Up to now, total investment of foreign countries to Myanmar is USD14.741b. In terms of investment fields, the three industries, namely, electric power, petroleum natural gas and manufacturing, take the lead, accounting for 42.81%, 22.00% and 11.05% respectively of the total foreign capital, followed by such industries as the real estate, restaurant and tourism as well as mining and animal husbandry and aquaculture. According to countries, among 418 investment projects in Myanmar from 28 countries and areas, the first five are Thailand, UK, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, accounting for 50.14%, 12.62%, 10.31%, 4.48% and 3.42% respectively of the total investment.
