From January to May of 2008, Guangxi actually utilizing foreign capital stood at USD540m, up by 102% year-on-year, which is in the best situation over the past five years.

In recent years, growth rate of Guangxi newly approved contractual foreign capital rises year by year with total yearly contractual foreign capital of more than USD1b. Actually utilizing foreign capital is on the rise, and from 2005 to 2007, Guangxi foreign capital actually in position were respectively USD870m, USD1.01b and USD1.03b. It was estimated that in 2008 foreign capital actually in position will surpass USD 1.2b.

By the end of 2007, Guangxi had accumulatively approved 9521 foreign direct investment projects with contractual foreign capital of USD19.81b and actually utilizing foreign capital of USD9.49b. Businessmen from 72 countries and areas came to invest in Guangxi.
